Character Codex - Round 21 - Half-Elf Cleric and Druid

Greetings Chroniclers! We're back after a bit of a break. I apologize for the radio silence, but I took a much needed holiday and am back and ready to draw!

If you're new here, I'm drawing my way through all 77 race/class combinations in the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Core Rulebook.  We're currently doing the half-elves.  If you've missed any previous entries you can catch up HERE!

Do you use Roll20 or another virtual tabletop? Make sure to pick up some free Character Codex tokens suitable for use in any virtual tabletop environment!

Want to support the Character Codex? Have me draw your own personal RPG character!  RPG Character Sketches are inexpensive and a great way to show off your characters unique qualities.  You can find out more about that HERE!

Now, let's take a look at this week's Half-Elves!

Half-elf Cleric

Half-elf Cleric

Up next, is the Half-elf Druid. One of the chosen of Belagaea, Mother of The Wild, this druid walks the wilderness protecting nature and warding off those who would destroy it.

This half-elf shows tendencies more towards her elven side, in this case a Saesyn or wild elf. She may either be a wise woman in a Saesyn tribe or a guardian roaming the Deep Wood.

First up is the Half-elf Cleric. This fellow is a cleric of Dikai, the god of Order and Protection in Chronicle. One of the neat things about clerics on Pathfinder is that they are proficient with the favored weapon of their particular deity.  So this guy gets a nice longsword to use!

As with the last half-elves I wanted to shoe how some half-elves identify more with their human side and some identify with their elf side.  Dikai is predominantly worshiped by humans, as legend has it that he created the humans. This cleric was apparently raised in human civilization and in the worship of Dikai.

Followers of Dikai seek peace through law and order and often adventure in order to protect the common folk and keep order throughout the land.

That's it for this week! Next week, we'll be looking at the Half-Elf Fighter, Monk, and possibly (depending on time) Paladin.

Finally, make sure to come back for the new Chronicle strip tomorrow!

Now, let's take a look at this weeks' halflings!

Halfling Cleric

Halfling Cleric

First up is the Halfling Cleric. Halflings in Chronicle are known as Caun. They are a wandering race, travelling from city to kingdom. Caun are favored by Jul, goddess of creativity and travel. It is said that she delights in their stories and so a worship of Jul involves the telling of stories around a fire and offering sacrifices into the bonfire .

A Caun cleric would wear the flowing clothes associated with so many other priests, yet she does still wear armor for practicality's sake. The staff she is holding is a minor relic called the Walking Stick of Jul. Among other powers the Walking Stick will point the way to your destination.

Halfling Druid

Next is the Halfling Druid. This guy is something special. This is based off of the character one of my friends, Matt, is playing in my current Pathfinder game set in the Chronicle world! If you're curious how my RPG Character Sketches look, here you go! I may have gotten the hair color wrong, but other than that I am so pleased with how this one turned out.

The character's name is Traveler, he's a Reincarnated Druid from Ultimate Magic. He's been reincarnated a few times and has developed an eclectic assortment of gear. The two most notable items are the intelligent spear that looks like a Marlin and the intelligent scarf with various gaming boards knitted into it. Both of them talk to Traveler and each other and have their own little rivalry going.

That's it for this week! Make sure to come back tomorrow for a new Chronicle strip and on Friday for the latest Fun Art Drawing! As always, Like and Share on the Social Media of your choice!

Character Codex - Round 11 - Gnome Cleric and Gnome Druid

Hey everyone!  Welcome back to another round of the Character Codex!  We're drawing our way through all 77 race/class combinations in the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Core Rulebook.  We're showing off the Gnome Cleric and Gnome Druid today.  If you've missed any you can catch up HERE!

As always, if you're a virtual tabletop player, make sure to pop over and pick up some free tokens suitable for use in any virtual tabletop environment.

And now, bring on the gnomes!

Gnome Cleric

Gnome Cleric

Next up is the Gnome Druid.  Gnomes in Chronicle are, generally speaking, scholars and scientists.  When a gnome comes of age, they choose an area of knowledge to specialize in.  With that in mind I had the idea that a gnome druid would be one of those naturalists that was really in tune with nature and lived among the animals like Jane Goodall or Dian Fossey.  So that's what I went with.

She's wearing light safari-style clothes instead of a more traditional medieval fantasy style garment.  That's fitting with the gnomes of Chronicle who are a little more advanced technologically.  At the same time her hair's a slight mess and she does still have the pointy gnome shoes.

I almost drew her with apes, but I thought the inspiration would have been a bit ham-fisted.  So, instead I give you a bird (phrasing!) and a new critter I came up with called a badgercoot.

First up is our Gnome Cleric.  This little guy is a favorite of mine.  He was a character in the original Chronicle comic books published back in 2000.  This is Englund.  He's a priest of chaos.  Not a preist of a god of chaos, just chaos.  Now when most people hear "priest of chaos" they think devastation, destruction, and mayhem.  Englund is more of the random, stream of consciousness, unpredictable brand of chaotic.  For example, what's going on with this duck?  Is it a zombie duck and he's turning it or is he turning it into a zombie duck?  Hard to say.

Englund started out as a player character in the original Chronicle D&D game and I'm pretty sure he was human, but over the years he's morphed down into what can only be called a gnome and I think it fits him well.

So, that's it for this week!  Next week, we'll be looking at the Gnome Fighter, Gnome Monk, and if I can get to it, Gnome Paladin!

Character Codex Round 2 - Dwarf Cleric and Druid

Here's the latest update to my Character Codex project!  In case you missed the first update (gallery here), I'm going to be going through all 77 race/class combinations in the Pathfinder Core Rulebook.  Before we get started, let me ask you to go check out the Chronicle comic!  Even though I'm having fun with the Codex the comic is my main focus.  It updates every Thursday, so come back tomorrow for a new strip!  Also, if you like what you see and you want your own character drawn, I'm running a sale on Character Sketches.

Okay, enough promotion!  So, today we have the Dwarf Cleric and Dwarf Druid!

Dwarf Cleric

Dwarf Cleric

For the Dwarf Cleric, I went pretty traditional; armor, hammer, beard.  I imagined him as being a lower level character, so not much in the way of gear.  He's a priest of Jax, the dwarven god in Chronicle.  Rather than have a separate holy symbol, Jax's priests use their weapon which has been blessed.   Here he's turning some unknown undead.  It's a bit rough and a little plain, but I'm still pleased with it.

Dwarf Druid

Dwarf Druid

For the Dwarf Druid, I went a little out of the ordinary.  First off, yes, that is indeed a bearded female dwarf.  The bearded women thing with dwarves has always been a bit of a controversy.  Some say it's just a joke and they don't actually have beards, some say it's mandatory.  Pathfinder's (and D&D's, if I recall) official stance is that they do not, in fact, have beards.  The official Chronicle stance is that they once had beards, but after the dwarf nation traded its swords for plowshares, the hirsute look fell out of fashion.  Now only, the most uncivilized dwarven women have beards.  I figured a druid would fit in that category.  She's a mountain druid and fairly high level, pulling off some earth bending moves.  I'm super pleased with this one.  The spearhead looks rough, I may go back and correct that.  But, I'm happy with everything else.

Next week, is the Dwarf Fighter and Dwarf Monk (and Dwarf Paladin, if I get time)!
